Catherine, Princess of Wales (also known as Kate Middleton) often has to travel outside of London, England, sometimes even abroad, for her work as a royal.
A royal history expert now reveals that the princess always has to travel in a particular outfit and probably brings it with her on any overnight trips.

“Members of the British royal family are required to travel in a black ensemble in the event that the monarch or another high-ranking royal dies while traveling,” royal history expert Jessica Storoschuk told Page Six.
This rule began after Queen Elizabeth’s father, King George VI, died while she was on a royal visit to Kenya in 1952. She was not carrying appropriate mourning clothing with her at the time.
“After her father’s unexpected death, she was forced to wait on the tarmac until a suitable black suit was brought to her to change into,” Jessica said of the Queen’s arrival in England after her death, saying : “It’s much easier to just put it in your travel wardrobe than to wait.”
