Mark Ripley News
The most dangerous man in Britain, a bare-knuckle fighter, reportedly attacked 20 men at once after suspecting them of stealing his dog. True enough, there are many stories of infamous boxer Mark “The Ripper” Ripley, who was ultimately killed by his wife.
The Ripper developed a reputation as one of the most deadly fighters in the nation who, throughout his life, was reported to have “fought against 100 men and never back down.” According to Matt Legg, who has been keeping records of bare-knuckle fighters’ tales and feats, this is the case.
Even Bartley Gorman, an infamous bare-knuckle fighter known as the “King of the Gipsies,” claimed that Ripley couldn’t be knocked out. Ripley was known to battle to win at any cost, sometimes hospitalizing opponents.
Gorman, who claimed to have been undefeated in his professional career, remarked to Legg that the gypsy fighter was the “hardest man” he had ever faced. While neither man was knocked to the ground over their fight, Gorman — perhaps predictably — declared himself the winner.
Although we can’t be certain of that, Ripley was definitely a tough cookie. He was a “gypsy man known to be very, cautious of,” according to his niece Rosie Smith. She said, “He would never back down.”
When his dog went missing, Ripley once showed why he had such a fearsome reputation by approaching a group of 20 men.
He gave the men an ultimatum as he thought they realized what had occurred. When he returned, he expected the dog to be returned or he would come for every single one of them, he added, noting that he was going to the stores.
‘If I don’t have my dog back by the time I get back from the shop with my wife, then there’s going to be trouble,’ he warned, as reported by Legg. Apparently, he left to go to the store, and when he returned, the dog had returned.
According to Rosie, her uncle is still known as one of the hardest people to have ever lived and is still talked about in the gypsy community. But he was no match for the bullets, and a shooting in a Croydon pub led to his death. His own spouse was the one waving the weapon.
Since she had previously shot him, he allegedly told her: “The next time you shoot me, you better kill me.”
She took the pistol to the pub that night after taking her husband’s advise, only to have him tell her, “You know what I told you, don’t you?”Ripley was shot dead at the age of 34 after she made sure to do it this time. Still, he is remembered as one of the most difficult and strongest fighters to have ever existed, and his name is known all over the area.
