Four years after they decided to stop working as royals, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are hoping to return to royal duties amid Kate Middleton’s battle with cancer.
According to the New York Post, the couple wants to return temporarily to fulfill their royal duties. But they want to do it on their own terms.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are said to have expressed interest in helping with his duties. This is because King Charles III and Kate Middleton are undergoing cancer treatments.
However, royal expert Tom Quinn says the rest of the royal family is unlikely to accept the return of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
“Both Meghan and Harry still hope that at some point they will be asked to return,” Quinn told the Mirror. “Becoming royals on their own terms is a rapidly shrinking possibility, but the couple have asked about this at length and the fact that the number of senior royals is seriously reduced at the moment has reignited their hopes.”
Quinn further noted, “As I understand it from the palace contracts, they are fooling themselves if they think they will be invited back in any way.”
Last month it was reported that King Charles III had considered the idea of Prince Harry returning to royal duties. But it would be temporary. However, Prince William reportedly blocked his brother’s return to the royal family.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams also shared that the royal family’s health issues could potentially protect the perfect opportunity to mend the rift between Prince Harry and the working members. However, it still seems unlikely that things will change.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly reached out to Prince William and Kate Middleton after the cancer announcement.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also released a statement regarding the news. “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family,” the couple shared. “And I hope they can do it privately and peacefully.”
