Preneet started her political career in 1999 when she contested the general elections from Patiala Lok Sabha constituency. His party did not win the election, but he won the seat. In 2007, Amarinder Singh left the party and Preneet also had to give up the seat. He assumed office again in 2009 when his party won the elections.
