Who are the parents of Miya Marcano: Miya’s father and family have asked for privacy

Miya Marcano was found tragically dead in Orlando, Florida, a week after she was declared missing. Authorities found Marcano’s body after studying the cell phone records of the alleged killer, Armando Manuel Caballero, a maintenance worker where Miya worked and lived. Armando died of a suspected suicide three days after Miya’s disappearance.

The medical examiner has yet to confirm Miya’s identity, but Sheriff John W. Mina said authorities are “very confident” the recovered body belongs to Miya. The discovery ended widespread search efforts involving friends and family.

Miya’s father and family have asked for privacy as they plan for Miya’s send-off.

Miya’s father, Marlon Marcano, posted his latest update on Miya minutes before searchers found her body. “My heart is broken! I need to get it back. I must find you soon,” he wrote on Instagram.

Marlon has been at the forefront of the search for his missing daughter, tirelessly posting and offering money for information leading to Miya’s whereabouts. He and the rest of the family are devastated by the tragic turn of events.

The devastated family released a statement through their attorney, Daryl K. Washington. The statement described the parents’ distress:

“Hearing the news of the disappearance of 19-year-old Miya has been incredibly disheartening. She is every parent’s worst nightmare of hers. We are beyond disappointed to learn that she was found dead and we, along with her family, friends and loved ones, mourn such a beautiful young woman with a promising future.”

Daryl also announced the family’s intention to seek justice for Miya. Police have not named a suspect other than the late Armando Manuel Caballero. “We want to emphasize that we believe his disappearance and his subsequent death were 100% preventable and we intend to hold those responsible accountable to the fullest extent of the law,” Washington added.

He concluded by asking the public to respect the privacy of the family. “The family will not speak to any media at this time; however, we will update the media with additional information in the coming days,” Washington said.

According to a post by Marlon Marcano, the family has not launched any crowdfunding campaign. “Please note that our family is NOT affiliated with any GoFundMe group or any group that solicits monetary contributions from the public,” he read in the post.

In happier times, Giselle celebrated Marlon’s birthday via an Instagram caption mentioning the trials the couple went through. “What we have been through would have broken more,” the post reads. Giselle added:

“I pray that God continues to bless you ABUNDANTLY with good health, strong faith, peace of mind, prosperity, and a clean heart. May you always feel and know the love of those around you. I LOVE YOU FROM THE DEEPEST OF ME.”
