According to Prashant Rai, when he was studying in college, he was a part of his college’s Kabaddi team, which won multiple national championships for three consecutive years. In 2006, Prashant Rai represented the Karnataka State Police team in the South India Men’s Kabaddi Championship.
In May 2022, he represented the Bank of Baroda Kabaddi team during the South India Kabaddi Tournament held in Chettikulam, District Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu.
Pro Kabaddi League (PKL)
In the first three seasons of the Pro Kabaddi League, Prashant Rai played as a backup for the Telugu Titans, and supported Kabaddi players Rahul Choudhary and Sukesh Hegde. In Season 2, he scored 54 points in 15 matches for Telugu Titans. Later, he joined Dabang Delhi in season 4 and in season 5, he played for Haryana Steelers. During Season 6 in 2018, UP Yoddha invested Rs. He was priced at Rs 79 lakh, which was reportedly the highest bid of his PKL career and the highest bid for a Category B player in the Season 6 auction. With UP Yoddha, Prashant Rai scored 147 runs in 21 matches, crossing the 100 raid mark in a season.
In the 7th season of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) in 2019, Haryana Steelers acquired him after recognizing his aggressive playing style.
For Season 8 in 2022, Prashant Rai played for Patna Pirates, and later, he moved to Gujarat Giants in the 9th and 10th seasons of the PKL.
