Prabal, soon after completing his studies in design, worked under Cynthia Rowley’s design and production teams for a few years. Later, he was hired as the Design Director at the prestigious Bill Blass, where he served for almost 5 years. In February 2009, Gurung launched his own designer label named ‘Prabal Gurung’. His designs have gained immense popularity among celebrities across the world. Prabal’s creative and quality work has brought him into the limelight of American fashion with designs worn by leading ladies, Michelle Obama, The Duchess of Cambridge and Kate Middleton.

controversies
In November 2013, a former worker named Hana Kim filed a lawsuit against the business in New York Supreme Court, claiming that despite working 70 to 80 hours a week with Prabal Gurung for years, she struggled with depression and had to take leave in April 2013.
