Poojappura Ravi (1936–2023) was an Indian actor known for appearing in comedy roles mostly in Malayalam films. He acted in approximately 4,000 stage plays and more than 800 films.

Poojappura Ravi was born as Raveendran Nair on Wednesday, 28 October 1936 (age 83 at the time of death) in Poojappura, Thiruvananthapuram, Travancore, British Raj. His zodiac sign was Scorpio. He did his schooling from M HSS Tirumala High School, Thiruvananthapuram. He became famous for his extraordinary voice and the way he delivered his lines. He started his career as a performer while he was in school and focused on radio plays. People recognized his voice immediately as he participated in several radio dramas for children broadcast by All India Radio. When he was 12 years old and studying in seventh grade, he was selected as one of the 15 people to participate in Agasvani. After completing his studies in the eleventh grade, he started acting in a theater group called ‘Kalastanyam Drama Vision’. He played a small role in a play called Orlakudi Kallanai and earned Rs 500 per month for his acting. When he was earning such a small amount, he was married and had also become a father. At first, he did not get much success in the film industry, so he took up other jobs to earn a living. However, his career took a positive turn when he was re-introduced to theater by Sri Achari. He became a part of famous plays like Raktarakshasu and Kayamkulam Kochunni, which helped him gain popularity and establish himself in the theater industry.

Death
He died of age-related illness on 18 June 2023 in Marayur, Idukki, Kerala. Leader of Opposition in Kerala Assembly VD Satheesan, Culture and Youth Affairs Minister Saji Cherian, Higher Education Minister Dr R Bindu and former ministers KK Shailaja and G Sudhakaran condoled Ravi’s death. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also said on Facebook,

The actor, who had a huge fan following across Kerala, later entered the film world and won people’s hearts through his portrayal of comic characters. Facts/General Knowledge
- His stage name was Poojappura Ravi. Inspired by the famous theater artist Kalanilayam Krishnan Nair, he decided to adopt this stage name.
- In 2022, after living in Poojappura for 40 years, he decided to move and live in Munnar Marayoor with his daughter Lakshmi. The decision came after his son Harikumar shifted to England with his family.
