Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Three of the most powerful openings in franchise history and the evolution of those openings are presented. However, Skeledirge was even taller than the other two at a completely different level of strength. In fact, even the great powers of the past like Blaziken and Greninja might have to bow to Skeledirge.
In a generation of powerful ghost-type Pokémon, Skeledirge has found a way to stand out from threats like Flutter Mane and Houndstone. It is also one of the strongest flames Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and the legendary fire/dark monster Chi-Yu. There are certainly candidates to challenge Skeledrige as the strongest Fire type, but Fuecoco’s final evolution itself is a great example.
Why is Skeledirge so strong Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
Many Pokémon beat Skeledirge in specific areas, but Skeledirge is the real “best of all trades”, a new evolution it hasn’t had before. Its only downside is speed, which Sword and ShieldFire-type Cinderaces have infinite numbers, but Skeledirge makes up for that speed by being one of the largest input evolutions. Its size is only larger due to its unconscious ability, rendering the enhanced stats useless against Skeledirge’s defense.
The powerful Special Attack stat combined with Skeledirge’s signature move, Song of the Torch, allows Skeledirge to increase his Special Attack by one tier each time it is cast. Unaware and Torch Song form one of the deadliest tank duos in gaming history. Skeledirge can increase its stats to ridiculous levels without feeling the effects of opposing stat changes.
The Will-o-Wisp accessibility even allows Skeledirge’s damage never to significantly increase their attacks to compensate for the opponent being burned. Finally, Slack Off’s access allowed Skeledirge to recover from a nasty click. Quagsire proved the power of Unaware + Recover, but Skeledirge took this combo to the next level.
