Pokémon GO Datamine Info Hints Malamar & Goodra May Be Coming

Another potential leak from Pokémon GO dataminers, who may have found information that hints towards the addition of Malamar & Goodra into the game. Malamar & Goodra, both of which were introduced in Pokémon X & Y (or Generation 6), are some of the few Pokémon that require unique conditions to be evolved into. Goodra can only evolve from Sliggoo during rainy weather while users need to hold their Nintendo 3DS console upside-down while leveling Inkay to evolve it into Malamar.

Pokémon GO is currently celebrating its first-ever Weather Week. During the event, Pokémon that love the rain appear more frequently and the event also introduced the Shiny Rainy Form Castform and Therian Forme Thundurus into Pokémon GO, with the latter appearing only in 5-star raids. Event-exclusive field research and timed research assignments along with spring-themed avatar items are also available during Weather Week.

Popular Pokémon Go dataminer PokeMiners shared its recent findings on the TheSilphRoad subreddit, which include details on a new Rainy Lure, new evolution prompts, and more. According to the data discovered, the new Rainy Lure will not only attract Pokémon for a certain period of time, especially rain-loving ones, but it will also cause certain Pokémon to evolve. The last part could be hinting at the unique evolution conditions of Sliggoo and Goodra. One of the newly discovered evolution prompts, which will give players hints on how to evolve their Pokémon, includes one that mentions that certain Pokémon can only evolve if it’s raining or if they’re near what may be assumed to be the new Rainy Lure while another features an ID with the word “upside_down” which may hint at the aforementioned Inkay/Malamar evolution condition.

Some of the other evolution prompts that were found include ones that involve Pokémon that can only evolve during either the daytime or nighttime. The mined data also includes the text for the previously announced Elesa pose that is part of the rewards for Pokémon GO‘s Season 7 Battle League. Data on several events was also found, including some that reference April Fools’ Day, Earth Day, Earth Week, Easter, the Festival of Colors, Rivals’ Week, and more.

While the amount of information that has been shared looks pretty significant and convincing, it definitely must be taken with a grain of salt as datamines or leaks may not always prove to be accurate. Regardless, it’d definitely be fun to see Pokémon GO introduce the unique evolution mechanics of Pokémon such as Malamar & Goodra in the future.
