Pat Sajak clarifies a fan for lying to him in ‘Wheel of Fortune’

X received a huge tweet storm from fans criticizing the shady contestant.

Wheel of Fortune Host Pat Sajak, 77, didn’t miss a beat when a contestant tried to do something quick to him.

In the episode that aired on Tuesday, November 28, the esteemed host of the long-running game show criticized contestant, Oxford graduate and married mother of three, Lindsey Ziegenfuss, after she tried to sneakily change her answer .

In Wheel of Fortune, the rules are common knowledge. Contestants try to decipher a phrase by guessing letters. They can buy vowels to help, and sometimes in certain rounds they are allowed to buy just one vowel.

The former police detective with 11 years on the job surprised everyone after she was caught lying on national television. During the bonus round, she chose three consonants and one vowel to add to the phrase that had not yet been solved. The letter “S” was one of her choices, even though it had already been resolved previously thanks to her being provided with “RSTLNE”. An obvious mistake.

Later, the soon-to-retire Sajak stopped play to clarify Ziegenfuss’ decisions:

“Okay, that third letter was, did you say H, D…?” the host asked.

“H, D, C…” the astute player responded, returning to her initial guess of the letter “S.”

But the clever Wheel of Fortune host, was not easy to fool.

“But you said S, right?” she asked.

The guilty contestant smiled guiltily, but it was surprisingly insincere.

“No? Wait,” Sajak continued. “Before, did you say S or F? You said H, D…”

“C,” she repeated, still not accepting that she was caught in a lie.

Sajak paused for a moment before receiving production news. A poor, confused Vanna White waited for clarification on what to do next.

“Oh, so it wasn’t S or F?” he said. “I think I got it, okay.”

The audience burst into laughter.

Ziegenfuss had already been doing well for most of the episode. His opponents, Anthony Jones and Leigh Wang, were working hard to catch up to her.

Ironically, none of the letters chosen were correct, causing him to lose a profit of $40,000. Still, she managed to walk away with $23,000, plus national shame.

Of course, angry fans were quick to patronize the dishonest player.

“UNREAL police behavior on Wheel of Fortune tonight,” said one X fan.

“She said ‘S’!!!!” she urged another.

“This lady just lied. Wheel of Fortune about what letter he said,” another fan wrote. “Pat tried to correct her and asked her to repeat what she said. I stepped back to confirm the lie. None of her other cards worked and he couldn’t guess her, so instant karma for her.”

Cheaters never win! Pat Sajak and Vanna White handled the situation perfectly. We’re sure Ziegenfuss will think twice before lying to get his way.
