“Outlander” Season 8 Is Set To Be The Final Season Of The Series

Outlander has been refreshed for an eighth season, a few months before the TV series’ seventh season premieres this year. Starz, the premium cable and satellite network owned by Lionsgate, has confirmed that season 8 will be the series’ final season.

Although a Season 8 release date has yet to be set, it is speculated that filming will begin in 2024 due to scheduling conflicts with the main cast. Therefore, the final season is likely to premiere around 2025. Meanwhile, the seventh season is slated to premiere in the summer of 2023, meaning the 16-episode season will air from June to May. 9.

Surprisingly, although Outlander is coming to an end, the adventures of the Fraser family will continue. That’s because, along with the announcement of the series renewal (and eventual cancellation), the original Starz showrunner, Kathryn Busby, also officially announced the prequel series. According to rumors, the previous sequel, titled Outlander: Blood of My Blood, will tell about the budding love affair between Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie, the parents of Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan). Rumors of a prequel first surfaced last February and were confirmed in August.

According to Starz producer Kathryn Busby, Season 8 of Outlander will be “excited to continue”.

While giving an update on the ten episodes of Season 8, Busby said:

“For over a decade, Outlander has captured the hearts of people around the world, and we’re thrilled to bring Claire and Jamie’s epic love story to a dignified end. But before we wrap up this chapter, there’s much more to tell about their passionate story in 26 additional episodes, as well as much more to discover about this dynamic universe and its birth story. It. We are thrilled to be working with Matthew, Maril and Ronald again and can’t wait to see where their amazing story takes us next.”
