Buttons is actually a pirate blindfolded and wearing a parrot on his shoulder. However, he is not wearing a patch and the parrot is a seagull named Carl. What stands out about Buttons’ humor is how much Bonnet trusts him. Prior to Blackbeard, Buttons was Bonnet’s right-hand man, although he was often difficult to understand.
Buttons and Karl seem to have a totally amusing and funny dialogue. Having Ewen Bremner in the project just means that the scene will sell as much as it can. Buttons spends most of his time thinking about cannibalism as if it were a foregone conclusion, and this season’s spoiler almost got his wish.
