The heroes of both Jurassic Park trilogies unite in a new Jurassic World: Dominion movie poster. Steven Spielberg unleashed never-before-seen levels of CGI dino-mayhem with his classic 1993 thriller based on Michael Crichton’s novel. Over twenty years later, the Jurassic Park franchise was resurrected with even-more-spectacular effects in 2015’s Jurassic World.
Now in 2022 the second Jurassic Park trilogy is itself set to wrap up with Jurassic World: Dominion. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard of course have headlined all three Jurassic World movies. But the stars will have a lot of help in the trilogy-capper as original Jurassic Park players Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum return for substantial roles. Goldblum appeared in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom of course, while Neill and Dern are both making their debuts in the JW trilogy.
The bringing together of two generations of Jurassic Park/Jurassic World heroes has obviously been a major point of emphasis in the marketing for Dominion. And that’s the case again with the newest poster from the upcoming action-thriller, which features the two trilogies’ main cast members frozen in amber, along with the iconic Jurassic Park logo. See the image in the space below:
Pratt and Howard are of course joined on their half of the poster by their Jurassic World: Dominion co-stars DeWanda Wise and Isabella Sermon. Legacy heroes Goldblum, Neill and Dern meanwhile are given their own spotlight below the Jurassic Park logo. The poster design naturally makes Pratt and Howard somewhat larger than the other actors, in keeping with their status as the true stars of the JW trilogy. But it’s arguable that fans are actually much more interested in seeing what the original Jurassic Park trio get up to in the new movie than they are in finding out more about Pratt’s Owen Grady and Howard’s Claire Dearing.
Indeed it’s actually somewhat odd to see the third movie in a trilogy going the full legacy sequel route after the previous two films largely avoided bringing in cast members from the older films. Of course the dinosaurs themselves are supposed to be real stars of Jurassic Park/Jurassic World, making it arguably irrelevant who the movies add as human actors. The fact that Neill, Dern and Goldblum are back in large roles could be seen as nothing more than a touching acknowledgment of their importance to the franchise, and a chance for them to take a well-deserved bow. But it could also be seen as a sign of worry on the part of the studio that the previous two films failed to establish new human characters who audiences care about, leading to the desperation move of luring the original Jurassic Park trio back for Jurassic World: Dominion.
