OJ Simpson’s ‘If I Did It’ Tops Bestseller List Days After His Death

OJ Simpson book from 2007 Yes, I do topped the best-seller list days after the disgraced NFL star died at age 76.

The book offers readers a “hypothetical premise” of how Simpson could be the killer of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman. Simpson and ghostwriter Pablo Fenjves wrote the book, which was published in September 2007.

The book is now ranked #1, #2, and #4 in the Criminology section of Amazon’s best books list. The book is available in several versions: automatic, abridged and unabridged. Simpson’s book is also ranked #8 in the Murder/True Crime section.

In the book, Simpson revealed how he approached Nicole Brown Simpson on the night of the murders. She wrote in detail how she taunted him and lashed out at him “like a banshee,” causing him to lose control of her.

After the heated exchange, he walked past her condo and entered through a back door. She carried with her a knife that he had kept in his Bronco to “protect himself from the crazy people” in Los Angeles.

Although his initial plan was to simply “scare” Nicole, OJ wrote that he didn’t lose control until he noticed that his dog was friendly to Ron Goldman, who was present when he approached Nicole.

“You’ve been here before,” Simpson yelled at Goldman. Nicole responded by telling him to leave Goldman alone and then attacked him. As she ran, Nicole slipped, fell and hit her head hard on the ground.

Simpson claimed he passed out after that. “Then something went terribly wrong,” she added. “And I know what happened, but I can’t tell you exactly how.”

OJ Simpson’s daughter was the one who originally presented the concept of the book

ABC News reported in June 2007 that a statement revealed that OJ’s eldest daughter, Arnelle Simpson, came up with the concept for the book.

OJ stated in an interview that he proposed the book, but did not say who he proposed it to. However, he also said that the book’s title was created by his publisher, HarperCollins.

“That was its title,” Simpson allegedly claimed of the book’s title. “That’s what they came up with. I didn’t throw anything. “I don’t do book deals.”

OJ also maintained his innocence and said the book must be a “fictitious confession.”

“I have nothing to confess,” he declared. “This was an opportunity for my children to obtain their financial legacy. My children understand. “I made it clear that this is blood money, but it is no different than any of the other writers who wrote books about the case.”

OJ Simpson was acquitted of the 1994 murders in the so-called “Trial of the Century,” which took place a year after the murders occurred.

Simpson was later held responsible for the deaths of Nicole and Ron in the 1997 civil case brought by the victims’ families. He was ordered to pay the families $33.5 million, which he never paid in full.

However, before the book’s release, Ron Goldman’s family received the rights to the book. Under the original agreement, the family paid 10% of the first $4 million in gross profits to a court-appointed administrator. Most of that money went to the Brown family.

The Goldman family then changed the name of the book to If I did: murderer’s confessions with the cover art printed with the word “if” in a smaller font compared to the other words.
