OJ Simpson’s Bank of America credit card has just been auctioned. The card owner scored a big prize in the process.
Simpson, who died April 10, recently owned the card. The card’s expiration date was January 2023. Even though he only paid $70 for it on eBay last summer, the card’s owner sold it via auction for $10,675.
The owner of OJ Simpson’s credit card didn’t always plan to sell
The owner of OJ Simpson’s credit card, Jonathan Lepore, didn’t always want to sell it. In fact, he wanted to give it away.
Lepore told TMZ his initial plan was to give the card on a friend’s day. This friend’s father allegedly used to hang out with Simpson and his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, in the Hamptons in the ’80s and ’90s.
Lepore had not seen his friend’s father in quite some time and forgot that he even owned the card. Then Simspon passed away, refreshing Lepore’s memory. He decided now was a good time to get rid of the card and make some money in the process.
Perhaps the only happy ending to this story is that Lepore shares some of his winnings with a good cause. He is donating 10% of profits to the National Network to End Domestic Violence.
