OJ Simpson ‘dreamed of killing’ ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson, friend recalls

A friend of OJ Simpson claims the controversial athlete admitted to dreaming about killing his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson the day after her and Ron Goldman’s infamous 1994 murders.

A former friend of OJ and former Los Angeles police officer, Ron Shipp, told him PEOPLE The conversation occurred just before the once-famous NFL player was called in for questioning about the murders.

“He went there and they questioned him about everything and why he cut his finger, all that stuff,” Shipp recalled. Simpson told him that detectives had asked him to take a lie detector test. “And I said, ‘What did you do?’” Shipp said. To which OJ said he didn’t take the lie detector test.

“But it turns out he did accept it,” Shipp shared. “Nobody really knew that. but I guess it failed miserably, but I didn’t know that either. He told me he didn’t want to accept it and I said, ‘Why?’ and he said that because he dreamed of killing her.”

Shipp admitted to being shocked and recalled saying, “I said, ‘Man, did you dream about killing her? And he says: ‘Yes. But I didn’t want that. I didn’t want to take it because I didn’t want the needle to come out or something.’”

Shipp became a prosecution witness at Simpson’s trial. He talked about the conversation while he testified.

Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman were murdered on June 12, 1994, outside Brown’s condominium in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles.

After police began questioning him due to his violent past with Nicole, Simpson and his former AC Cowling carried out the famous low-speed Ford Bronco police chase.

Shipp also claimed that he became suspicious of OJ Simpson when he noticed a cut on his hand. When asked about the injury, Simpson allegedly “changed his story about the cut three different times.”

The former LAPD officer later said he became more suspicious of OJ when he asked him about the DNA testing. He “He Asked: ‘How long does it take for the DNA to come back?’ And I think I told him at the time, two months or something like that.”

Shipp admitted that after answering all the questions and conversations he had with Simpson, he left the disgraced athlete’s home knowing he had done it. “There were just no ifs ands or buts.”

Shipp believed OJ invited him after meeting with detectives because of his experience as a Los Angeles police officer.

That’s one of the reasons I think he kept me that night,” Shipp said. “But I was [retired] by then, but he just wanted me to answer all these questions, so I guess he could feel good about himself or think, ‘Oh, I’m going to go to jail.'”

Shipp added that he was heartbroken when he left Simpson’s house that night. “I really asked myself, ‘Why am I still here?’”

“You’re thinking in your mind that he killed her. It’s still a shock to me, and you’re praying and thinking, ‘Yeah, I hope you didn’t do this.’ But he had all the things that made me think, ‘You killed your wife.’”
