Nicolas explained that he “had the life experience” to embody the character, according to Deadline.
What are you talking about? He reminded me: “What happened to me is that I was maybe the first actor to wake up one morning and someone put on a montage of me having meltdown moments and freaking out, choosing between different movies and then putting it online. I think it was called ‘Nicolas Cage Loses His Shit’. And then it went viral overnight all over the world and I kept watching ‘What’s happening to me?’”
He said he realized “nothing I could do could stop him.” Instead, she waited for the right moment to accept it.
“I sat there and this memeification started appearing, with Photoshop and T-shirts, and I said, ‘I have to put this somewhere,’ and then I read dream scenario and I said ‘Yes, now I can turn this lead into a little bit of gold!’”
