Nick Colionne was a well-known singer and guitarist. Under the instruction of his stepdad, he picked up the guitar when he was nine years old.
He was raised alongside his siblings after being born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1966. He played jazz music live and taught jazz.
The performer spent his early years traveling and sharing the stage with well-known groups including The Impressions, Curtis Mayfield, and The Staple Singers.
It’s My Turn, Colionne, which was released in 1990, marked Colionne’s musical debut. He received the Malcolm X College Alumnus of the Year Award in 1996 as well as the Wayman Tisdale Humanitarian Award in 2010.
Nick spent 15 years at St. Laurence Elementary School in Elgin as a music instructor and counselor after earning his degree from Chicago’s Malcolm X College.
