Nia Vardalos claims her Writers Guild of America health insurance was canceled.
The 60-year-old actress and screenwriter is now coming clean about what’s happening as the WGA strike heads into its fifth month.

Nia took to Instagram on Thursday (September 21) to explain why she lost her WGA health insurance.
“My Writers Guild medical coverage was canceled today. Fellow writers, I’m thinking yours was probably canceled too or will be soon. And fellow actors, you are probably next,” she said.
Nia went on to clarify that her health insurance was not canceled because her film My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 It was released in theaters during the strike.
“The cast and I followed all the strike rules, we are in solidarity with our unions, we did everything right,” he wrote.
Nia explained that the loss of her health insurance was due to other factors. She ended her post with a call for help to others involved with the WGA and SAG-AFTRA.
“My insurance is gone because writers need better coverage,” he wrote. “I think I have answered all the questions I had. But @officialfrandrescher @wgawest @wgaeast @sagaftra when are we going to put together a benefit for other people who lost their health insurance, their income and are in need? Crews, writers, stylists, directors, producers and actors are left without income. Let’s raise some money and help people. Contact me. You can find me right here or on the strike line.”
