The villains are stronger and meaner, the townsfolk are frequently under the influence of the scarecrow gas, and Arkham Asylum and its mysterious warden, the Red Mask, are at work. Using everything at his disposal, he effectively turns everything in Gotham into an extension of the infamous madhouse.
But the streets of Gotham aren’t the only stronghold of this intense new version of Arkham. Red Mask’s control is so ingrained that even the Batcave is within his control. Bruce’s Chamber of Secrets, which he spent hours turning into his ultimate base of operations, is now one of Arkham’s biggest and worst incarnations. Arkham Caverns Is Batman’s Worst Nightmare
Arkham Asylum is frequented by many of the villains who haunt Gotham City after the confrontation with Batman. In many ways, it’s a symbol of the corruption Bruce is desperately trying to purge from Gotham. But without Batman fighting for a twisted Gotham, Arkham’s influence has only grown, even to the point where Madhouse has taken over what is supposed to be the city’s savior.
