Neha Tanwar was born on Monday, 11 August 1986 (age 37 years; as in 2023) in Narayana village, located in south-west New Delhi. She studied at MCL Saraswati Bal Mandir Senior Secondary School in Hari Nagar, Delhi and grew up playing various sports like Kho Kho, Kabaddi, Shot Put, Volleyball, but not cricket. She was first introduced to cricket when she went to graduate in B.Com from Maitreyi College, Delhi in 2003.

Neha started playing cricket at the age of 17. He represented his college team, university team and then made it to the state team in just two years after being introduced to the game. In 2010, he was selected to play in the 2010–11 season of the Challenger Trophy, and his remarkable performances in the tournament helped him earn a call-up to the Indian team. She played her first ODI for the India women’s national cricket team on 18 January 2011 against West Indies Women in Rajkot. She also made her T20 International debut the same year on 26 June 2011 against England Women at Taunton. Neha could play only five ODI and two T20 International matches for India. After 2011, he did not get a chance to play for the national team; However, he continued to participate in domestic matches. In 2014, Neha decided to retire from cricket due to motherhood responsibilities, but she could not stay away from cricket for long and made a comeback in the 2015–16 Ranji Trophy. As of 2020, Neha has played over a hundred domestic cricket matches and strongly believes that she will get a national call-up.

- Neha Tanwar chose cricket only to get admission under sports quota in Maitreyi College, Delhi. Before this he had not even touched a cricket bat.
- Neha started as a spin bowler; However, she embraced her batting skills and became an opening batsman.
