Neena Singh is a 1989 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Rajasthan cadre. He has held important positions in various central government organizations such as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). She is also the first woman IPS officer to be allotted Rajasthan cadre. She came into limelight in December 2023 when she became the first woman to be appointed as Director General (DG) of CISF.

Neena Singh, known as Neena Rani before marriage, was born on Saturday, 11 July 1964 (age 59 years; as in 2023) in Darbhanga, Patna, India. His zodiac sign is Cancer. After completing her schooling in Bihar, she joined Patna Women’s College, where she graduated with a BA. He then joined Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, where he did his MA. He did Master in Public Administration (MPA). Harvard Kennedy School. Later, he earned a degree in social programs evaluation from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. After completing her formal education, Neena appeared for the UPSC Civil Services Examination and was successful in clearing it. Subsequently, he reported to the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad, Telangana, where he took a police training module.

livelihood

Neena was initially allotted Manipur cadre on 21 August 1989. She held many positions in Manipur cadre. Subsequently, she was transferred to Rajasthan cadre and became the first woman IPS officer to be allotted Rajasthan cadre.

In 2000, she started a creative outreach initiative as Secretary of the Rajasthan State Commission for Women. The objective of this program is to provide assistance to women facing difficulties by conducting hearings in different districts and provide them a platform to express their concerns. In Rajasthan, she has held many important posts like Additional Director General (Training) and Director General of Civil Rights and Anti-Human Trafficking. In 2013, he was posted to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), where he worked on important and sensational cases like the Sheena Bora murder case, PNB scam case, Nirav Modi case and Jiah Khan suicide case. He served in CBI till 2018. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he was appointed as the Principal Secretary (Health) in Rajasthan. After that, he was appointed as the Special Director General of CISF.
