After Renjun tested positive for COVID on July 27, SM Entertainment canceled the NCT DREAM THE DREAM SHOW 2: IN A DREAM Dome event. It was a three-night sold-out event at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. Renjun’s appearance comes just two days after another member, Mark, tested positive for the virus. Initially, the company decided to continue the show without him. However, it has now been completely removed. According to the agency, Renjun has received 3 doses of the vaccine. The message also said that despite the best efforts of the staff and members to deliver a great concert, an “inevitable choice” had to be made. Tickets for the show will also be fully refunded.
NCT DREAM’s Renjun is the latest member to contract with COVID and the company has canceled Dome performances.
Renjun, 22, is the latest member of NCT DREAM to test positive for COVID. The male singer appeared “strange symptoms” on July 27 and immediately used a self-test kit. After getting a positive result, he underwent a PCR test. The results are the same. As a result, the idol immediately stopped working. He is currently in quarantine.
In the statement announcing the cancellation, the agency indicated:
“Although all the members and staff of NCT DREAM have worked hard to prepare a concert that will live up to the expectations of the fans who have been waiting for this concert, unfortunately, we have come to the inevitable conclusion that we will not be able to hold the best concert possible given the current situation, so we ask for your deep understanding and understanding.”
Renjun is the latest in a long line of K-pop celebrities to cancel or postpone concerts after falling ill. While Zico postponed their comeback promotions, NCT 127’s Yuta had to miss a concert in Singapore, ENHYPEN’s Jay, Jake and Heeseung, Cosmic Girls’ Exy and Yeoreum, and others were recently diagnosed with COVID. SM Entertainment canceled the group’s planned concert at the Dome due to obvious health issues. THE DREAM SHOW 2: IN A DREAM is a three-night event held at Gocheok Sky Dome from July 29 to 31.
Fans cried and sent heartfelt messages to Renjun and Mark.
The now-canceled Dome tour is very important to NCT DREAM. This is the band’s first solo concert in Korea in more than three years. Furthermore, this will be the group’s first concert with all seven members. The group’s last concert, also the first concert held in 2019 with 6 members. Mark left the organization in January of that year. Mark’s debut concert with NCT DREAM will be part of the Dome tour.
I hope Mark and Renjun don’t blame themselves and focus on healing ☹️ The road may be bumpy but I’m sure everything will be fine soon. Their efforts will never be wasted. We will wait for you, our 7dream! 🤍 pic.twitter.com/HR7QBMG4DW
