Nayyara Noor was born on Friday, 3 November 1950 (age 71 years; as in 2022) in Guwahati, Assam, India. He was brought up in Karachi, Pakistan. His zodiac sign is Scorpio. After this he took admission in National College of Arts, Lahore. When she was in college, she sang the bhajan “Jo Tum Todo Piya” from the film ‘Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baje’ (1955), originally sung by Lata Mangeshkar. There a professor named Asrar of Islamia College heard his song. He was a music expert and he immediately liked Noor’s voice. Then he asked her to pursue her career in singing. Talking about the professor during an interview, Noor said,

He himself was a very good singer and was immersed in classical music. I was lucky that I got the opportunity to sing some of his songs in my early days.

Noor started her career as a singer with Radio Pakistan. She then worked as a singer for various Pakistani TV shows like ‘Taal Matol’ and ‘Sach Gup’. He lent his voice to songs in various Pakistani films, such as:

He gained immense popularity with his ghazals including “Woh Jo Hum Mein Tum Mein,” “Rang Barsaat Nai Bhare Kuch Tu,” “Phir Sawan Ruth Ki Pawan Chali Tum Yaad Aayi,” and “Kabhi Hum Bhi Khoobsurat The.” Noor lent her voice to Pakistan’s national song “Watan Ki Mitti Gawah Rehna”.

Death

He died of cancer on 20 August 2022 in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. His last rites were performed at Jamia Masjid o Imambargah Yasrab, a mosque in Karachi, Pakistan. Many Pakistani personalities, including Pakistani President Dr. Arif Alvi and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, shared their grief over his demise.
