News about Natalie Noone

Such is the life of Natalie Noone, a young country/Americana musician whose father is the famous Herman’s Hermits frontman, Peter Noone. But that didn’t stop Natalie from following in her father’s footsteps and entering the music industry, albeit in a different genre.

He’s bringing his brand, as well as his band, The Maybes, to Milwaukee for a number of concerts, starting Wednesday night with a two-hour solo show at The Bay at Whitefish Bay. She and The Maybes will next open Herman’s Hermits for two nights at Potawatomi’s Theater of Northern Lights before ending the week at Racine’s Route 20 Outhouse.

“It’s like I hit all the bases,” Noone said. “Like my entire career can be summed up in four days.” In addition to stadiums, we cover all types of halls, which can take a while.

Before his mini tour in Milwaukee, OnMilwaukee spoke with Noone about growing up with his famous father and his artistic inspirations and aspirations.

OnMilwaukee.com: When was your first interest in music? Considering your background, I assume you grew up in a musical family.

Natalie Noone: (laughs) That’s right. Oh, I don’t know. I grew up backstage and there was always music in the house. Parents listen through the womb. I was taught classical music while in the womb, which is really unusual. (laugh)

I grew up behind the scenes and my father was a big music fan. I must have seen someone play the violin somewhere because I begged to play it when I was four years old and did that for ten years. I was bored with classical music, so my father started listening to me in the 1950s and 1960s, and he showed me how to play “For No One” on the piano because he said it was “For No One”. As a result, my love for chords and more pop songwriting was born. Finally, I picked up a guitar and started playing country songs. (laugh)
