His video, in which he claimed he would participate in Mewat Brajmandal Yatra in July 2023, allegedly angered the Muslim community in Nuh which resulted in communal violence in the area.

Monu Manesar aka Mohit Yadav was born in Manesar, Gurugram, Haryana, India. As per one source, he was born on Thursday, 5 August 1993 (age 30 years; as of 2023), and as per another source, he was born on Saturday, 5 August 1993 (age 28 years; as of 2023). His zodiac sign is Leo. He completed his schooling at Neeraj Senior Secondary School, Manesar. He later pursued a diploma at a local polytechnic college. After completing his formal education, he got associated with Hindutva organisations.

Bajrang Dal Activist

When Monu Manesar was eighteen years old, he met Dr Dharmendra Yadav, a member of Akhil Bhartiy Hindu Kranti Dal, who later became his guru. Dharmendra introduced Monu to Dr Manjeet Yadav, a member of Vishva Hindu Parishad, who guided him and helped him become a member of Bajrang Dal.

He said in an interview that while studying in college, he once saw a truck full of cows that were being smuggled. When the police stopped the truck, many of those cows had died. Disturbed upon seeing this, Monu vowed to stop cow smuggling and gradually became a famous cow vigilante in Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.

In 2015, he was chosen as a member of the Gurugram Cow Protection Task Force formed by the Haryana Police. He is one of the most prominent Bajrang Dal members in Haryana.

He has also been associated with the Civil Defence Team of Gurugram and often participated in various rescue operations in local accidents and social programs like blood donation camps.

Controversies

Nasir-Junaid Double Murder Case

On 16 February 2023, police found two charred bodies in a Bolero in the Bhiwani district of Haryana who were later identified as Nasir and Junaid of Ghatmeeka village of Bharatpur, Rajasthan. Police later named Monu Manesar and four others as the accused in the case and put charges related to murder. He absconded from his home and evaded arrest. He later released a video claiming that he was innocent and was being framed in the case. His name was later removed from the FIR and chargesheet.

Accused of killing a Muslim man

On 18 February 2023, it was reported that he and his group assaulted three Muslim men named Waris, Shokeen and Nafis after their Santro car collided with a temp on the morning of 28 January 2023 in Nuh, Haryana, and Waris died during the treatment. The family members alleged that Waris died due to the beating and said Monu went live on Facebook, showing the trio being questioned; however, he later deleted the video. Police officials claimed that Waris died due to the injuries sustained in the accident and did not register any FIR.

Criminal Cases

There are more than five criminal cases registered against him under IPC sections 302 and 307 related to murder, assault, and attempt to murder.

Facts/Trivia

  • In 2019, he was shot in the chest during an attempt to stop the cow smugglers. He was admitted to a private hospital in Gurugram and underwent treatment for four days.
  • He is very popular on social media, and he was awarded the YouTube Gold Button after his YouTube channel crossed 100k subscribers. After he was named as one of the prime accused in the Nasir-Junaid murder case, his YouTube channel was demonetised by YouTube, and a few videos were also removed.

  • He is often seen brandishing pistols and rifles in his photos. In an interview, he said that he owns a licenced pistol and rifle.

  • He was named as one of the key reasons for inciting the communal violence in Nuh and Mewat, Haryana. Apparently, he had released a video that he would participate in the Mewat Brajmandal Yatra on 31 July 2023 which angered the public, resulting in mob violence. Monu later disclosed that he did not participate in the yatra due to security concerns.
