Michael Oher’s Conservatorship Ended and Tuohy Family’s Control of His Finances Released

Michael Oher’s conservatorship will officially end.

The 37-year-old retired NFL star filed a lawsuit in August seeking to dissolve the conservatorship he entered into when he was adopted by Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy. His relationship with the family inspired the hit film. The blind side.

On Friday (September 29), a judge agreed to honor Michael’s request.

People confirmed that Judge Kathleen Gomes announced that she would release the athlete from conservatorship. This will effectively return control of his finances, which the Tuohys assumed when he signed the paperwork.

In his initial filing, Michael alleged that he was tricked into accepting conservatorship and that he had not received royalties for The blind side.

Sean responded, denying this last claim. The family’s lawyer also alleged that Michael threatened to leak unflattering stories to the press.

They later claimed that they never intended to adopt Michael.
