Meghan McCain entered her time in The view in a revealing new essay.
The 38-year-old acted as a conservative voice on the show for several years before leaving in 2021. She reflected on the show, her experiences with it and more after Rosie O’Donnell spoke negatively about her own time as a presenter.
In an essay on daily mailMeghan revealed a topic she wasn’t allowed to discuss on air, conversations she had with other former hosts about the show and what she thought it took to “survive” there.

‘I imagine being a former ABC News co-host’ The view It feels like having a very public and unpleasant breakup with an infamous ex-boyfriend. Everyone knows it ended in a complete disaster. And absolutely everyone wants to talk about it,” Meghan opened her essay.
On the topic of Rosie, she added that she was always “validating” when other hosts spoke negatively about her. The view.
“Now, Rosie O’Donnell and I probably don’t agree on much. But here we are in sync. There is nothing on God’s green earth that can convince me to walk on that set again,” she said.
Meghan added that they weren’t alone in that thought, but many other presenters choose not to speak publicly.
“Rosie, Jenny McCarthy and I have chosen to speak publicly about our time on the show. But here’s a secret, behind closed doors I’ve never heard a former presenter have anything positive to say,” she alleged.
Going a step further, he revealed a topic he wanted to address that was off-limits: “In 2019, Democratic Virginia Governor Ralph Northam confessed (and then, one day, suddenly recanted his admission) to being the white man in the photo with black face. in a photograph published in his medical school yearbook from 35 years ago.”
“It was the number one story in the country and a huge scandal considering Northam is a member of a party that offers no safe harbor to political opponents caught violating social norms,” he continued. “Northam’s story was, what they call in the industry, a talker.”
She added to the issue and said, “But we weren’t allowed to talk about it because of Whoopi.” [Goldberg] and Joy Behar.” The latter surfaced a photo of herself in which she “used makeup to darken her skin for a Halloween costume in the 1970s.” Whoopi’s ex, Ted Danson, had also painted blackface and used racial slurs during a 1993 appearance.
“I am writing this to explain that the issues have escalated due to past scandals of my co-hosts. “I always thought the decision was ridiculous and made it seem like we weren’t capable of addressing serious issues,” she opined.
How can you do it? The view? Meghan had thoughts.
“The only way to survive on that show is to eat vanilla pudding. “Don’t say anything controversial with the elites, bow down and don’t do the job you were hired to do, which is express your authentic opinions,” she wrote. “Rosie worked on the show in a different era, but it sounds like she didn’t exactly have the right tone either.”
