She is said to have attended Eagle Rock High School. Shelton is said to have started performing in his late teens. She eventually went on to study film and theater at the University of California, Los Angeles. She played small roles in many movies and TV series during her early college days.
Shelton’s first major film role was in Ronny Yu’s fantasy film Warriors of Virtue, where she played Elysia, a role for which she received positive reviews from fans and critics. Marley Shelton went on to portray lead roles in films such as The Trojan War, Pleasantville, and Never Been Kissed, to name a few.
