Mariska Hargitay may wear a fake badge for her role on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit… but her heart is all cop.
While filming one of the final episodes of season 25 of the iconic police series in New York City on April 10, a young woman approached Hargitay. It seems that the girl mistook her for a real police officer because of the badge she was wearing in her character’s costume.
A source said People At Anne Loftus Playground in Fort Tryon Park, the young adventurer found herself on a solo mission away from her mother and ended up recruiting none other than Hargitay for her search party. The actress quickly paused production for 20 minutes, spending her time reuniting the boy with her mother, offering comfort to both during the ordeal.
The young woman remained completely oblivious to the film crew and Ice-T, Hargitay’s scene partner, according to the witness. She was under the impression that Hargitay was a real on-duty police officer.
Hargitay, a mother of three children with her husband Peter Hermann, facilitated the reunion of mother and daughter. She was also seen offering comfort to both of them. Of course, the touching moment reached X (formerly Twitter).
