Marina Perkins Wikipedia, Wiki, Husband, Age, Oxford – St. Luke’s congratulates teaching assistant Marina Perkins on receiving a Gates Scholarship to study at Cambridge University the following year. The Gates Scholarship, according to its website, is “for intellectually outstanding postgraduate students with a capacity for leadership and a commitment to improving the lives of others.”

Perkins intends to research Michel de Montaigne, a Frenchman who popularised the personal essay in the 16th century, for his Ph.D. dissertation while studying at Cambridge. Only 95 scholars from all over the world, including Perkins, were given the award this year.
Nearly ten years ago, the St. Luke’s Fellows Programme was established to find and recruit early career teachers. For a one- or two-year compensated fellowship, one to three young college graduates are hired each year. Five of the 13 fellows hired—Susan Garnett ’06, Rodrigo Luger, Emma Creeden, Ryan Lundquist, and, beginning this year, Tom Owens—have become staff teachers.
Like Perkins, other people have gone back to school. Rodrigo Luger, who is pursuing a Ph.D. in astrophysics at the University of Washington, Galen Sanderson, who is studying medicine at the Uniformed Services University, and Ryan Lundquist, who is studying law at Washington University in St. Louis, are some examples.
Managing the hiring process is Jim Foley, Assistant Head of Upper School for Leadership & Innovation. “The Fellows Programme brings us excited, new teachers who can connect with our students with energy, fresh eyes, and a willingness to learn and be mentored,” he adds.
Perkins, who attended Brown University and Cambridge University, joined St. Luke’s last year as a Fellow in the Upper School History Department. “I’ve become immersed in the life of the school over the course of my two-year fellowship,” adds Perkins. “I’m deeply grateful for the opportunities the programme has afforded me.”
Bill and Melinda Gates started the Gates Cambridge Scholarship in 2000 to “build a global network of future leaders committed to improving the lives of others.”
Because Mr. Sharp attempted to help the PM with a personal financial matter, the report concluded that “there is a risk of a perception that Mr. Sharp was recommended for appointment” and/or “that he influenced the former prime minister to recommend him by informing him of his application before he submitted it.”
Even though the meeting between Mr. Case and Mr. Blyth was postponed, the report stated that despite his involvement being “very limited” in Mr. Johnson’s personal finances, it should have been disclosed.
