Maren Morris appears to take aim at Jason Aldean’s controversial song ‘Small Town’ as she teases new music video

Maren Morris seems to be overshadowing Jason Aldean.

Over the past few months, Jason, 46, has faced tons of backlash after releasing his new song. “Try it in a small town.”

Many said it was a “pro-lynching song” and it received criticism for using new coverage of Black Lives Matter protesters in the music video. A portion of the video was filmed outside a Tennessee courthouse where a black teenager was lynched in the 1920s.

While teasing his upcoming music video, Maren, 33, seemingly dug into Jason and his song.

On Thursday (September 7), Maren took to Instagram to share a screenshot of herself looking quite skeptical along with a quick video of a sign that reads, “Welcome to our perfect little town from sunrise to sunset.”

The words “Small Town” are written in large, bright red letters, and there is an image of the American flag behind the words.

Along with the video, there is an audio clip of Maren singing, “Oooo, can you hear me?”

In the caption, Maren added: “I’m done filling a cup with a hole in the bottom.”

Last year, Maren, who strongly supports the LGBTQ+ community, and Jason’s wife Brittany were recently involved in a very public online dispute over Brittany’s alleged transphobic comments.

Amid the dispute, conservative Fox News host Tucker Carlon called Maren a “country music lunatic person.”

Maren turned Tucker’s comments into something good, selling “country music lunatic person” t-shirts to raise money for trans youth.

Sheryl Crow also mentioned the lyrics of Jason’s song.
