Makrand Padhye is an Indian actor, dialogue writer, director, producer and photographer. He is best known for playing the role of Bal Thackeray in the 2022 biopic ‘Dharamveer’ directed by Praveen Tarde.

Makrand Padhye was born in Mumbai. He did his schooling from Chhabildas Lallubhai Boys High School, Mumbai, after which he studied arts from Ruparel College. From 1986 to 1991, he studied at the Sir JJ Institute of Applied Art, Mumbai.

Makrand has acted in many theater plays and has worked with Rabindra Natya Mandir, Savitribai Phule Natya Sabha and many theatres. In 2005, he worked in ‘Baikach Ekka Ghadi Bhar Paika’, a Marathi drama directed by Pandurang Kulkarni. She acted in the Marathi language comedy drama ‘Agabai Solva Waris Dhokyacha’ with Pandurang Kulkarni; The video CD of this drama was released on 28 November 2005.

He played a supporting role in the Marathi stage play ‘Ekach Pyala’, released in May 2019. In June 2022, he acted in ‘Vishwanayak’, a Hindi drama about the life journey of Swami Vivekananda. He played the role of Surendranath opposite Vikas Patil who played the role of Swami Vivekananda in the play.
