Mainabai Savarkar (1886–1947) was an Indian freedom fighter. She was the sister of Indian revolutionary Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. He died of age-related illness in 1947 in Bombay state (now Maharashtra), India.

Mainabai Savarkar was born in 1886 (age 61 years at death) in Bhagur, Nashik district, Bombay Presidency, British India (now Maharashtra, India).

Mainabai Savarkar’s father’s name is Damodar Savarkar (deceased) and mother’s name is Radhabai Savarkar (deceased). He had three brothers, Ganesh Damodar Savarkar, Narayanrao Savarkar and Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. Ganesh Damodar Savarkar was an Indian politician, activist, nationalist and founder of Abhinav Bharat Society. Narayanrao Savarkar was a freedom fighter and Vinayak Damodar Savarkar (popularly known as Veer Savarkar) was a revolutionary freedom fighter, an accomplished politician and a writer. Vinayak pioneered the political ideology ‘Hindutva’, which he developed during his detention in Ratnagiri jail in Maharashtra in 1922. He was one of the important leaders of Hindu Mahasabha, a political party. Savarkar died in 1966.

Mainabai Savarkar got married to Bhaskarrao Kale of Trimbakeshwar in her childhood. The couple had three sons, Ambadas, Lakshman and Madhusudan. Ambadas and Lakshman were doctors while Madhusudan was a Medical Representative (MR).

Death

Mainabai Savarkar died of age-related illness in Bombay State (now Maharashtra), India in 1947 at the age of 61.
