Ban on Pakistani actors
Following the Uri attack in 2016, the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) and the Film Producers Guild of India decided to ban all Pakistani actors, actresses and technicians from working in Bollywood. Therefore Mahira was not allowed to promote her film Raees in India. Her co-actor Shahrukh Khan gave a statement that he would not be allowed to promote the film in India.
