Madan Puri (1915–1985) was an Indian actor who worked in Hindi and Punjabi films. He is the brother of famous actors Amrish Puri and Chaman Puri. He died of a heart attack on 13 January 1985 at the age of 69.

‘Madan Lal Puri was born on Thursday, 30 September 1915 (age 69 at the time of death) in Nawanshahr, Punjab. He completed his formal education in Rahon, Punjab. He did his graduation from Hindu College, Delhi University. Later, he made a name for himself in Bollywood with his collaboration with his first cousin, singer KL Sehgal.

Madan Puri was the son of Nihal Chand Puri and Ved Kaur. He had four brothers and sisters. His eldest brother was Chaman Puri, his younger brothers were Amrish Puri and Harish Lal Puri, and he had a younger sister Chandrakanta Mehra.

Madan Puri was married to Sheela Devi. The couple is blessed with three sons, namely, Pravesh Puri, Lt. Col. Dr. Kamlesh K Puri and Ramnesh Puri. A few years after the death of Madan Puri, his wife Sheela Devi also died.

Madan started his acting career in the 1940s and made his film debut in 1946 with “Ahimsa”. He gained recognition for negative and villainous roles in Hindi films. Some of his notable films and roles include Lala Lalchand in ‘Swarg Narak’ (1978), Boss in ‘Ram Bharose’ (1977), Samantand in ‘Deewar’ (1975), ‘Dharmatma’ 1975 and ‘Blackmail’ (1973). . ) as in ‘Dr. Khurana.

He acted in Jatti, Jatt Punjabi and many other Punjabi films. Many of his films were released after his death. Madan Puri’s last performance was as ‘Kaka’ in the film ‘Santosh’ (1989).
