Ludacris reveals Justin Timberlake told him to ‘shut up’ after Grammy win

While taking a walk down memory lane, Ludacris revealed that Justin Timberlake criticized him after winning the 2007 Grammys.

During his appearance in Beverage Champions, The rapper said he was backstage at the 2007 Grammys after winning Best Rap Album and swore as he let his emotions out. He noted that the performers were placed in waiting areas behind the stage that were separated by a thin curtain.

As he continued to celebrate his Grammy award in an unconventional way, Ludacris heard a voice from the other side of a curtain. “Shut your mouth,” he heard someone say. “Some of us didn’t win any damn Grammys!!!”

After pulling back the curtain, the rapper came face to face with Timberlake.

Despite Timberlake’s heated comment, Ludacris admitted he wasn’t worried about it. If anything, he gave the rapper a fun story to tell years later.

What’s even more interesting about the story is that Timberlake’s harsh comment towards Ludacris turned out to be “premature” as he ended up winning Best Rap/Song Collaboration for My love and Best Dance Recording for Sexy back.

Ludacris also addressed his early 2000 dispute with TI

Ludacris later opened up about the feud he had in the early 2000s with fellow rapper TI. He admitted that the dispute between him and TI had a lot to do with him being competitive.

“I’m extremely competitive, so I’m always into subliminals,” he said. “So… when he hit, I hit back on the records.”

To add fuel to the feud, TI ended up getting into a physical altercation with Ludacris’ manager Chaka Zulu in 2007. TI later apologized for his actions during that year’s BET Awards.

“It’s crazy because, in retrospect, we were actually on a flight together,” the rapper explained. He also said that he and TI also attended George Floyd’s funeral together. “Will Packer put a group of people together on this plane, so we were literally there talking for two or three hours.”

Ludacris said he and TI spent those hours talking about everything. “I just told him to his face, like, ‘Bro, I never start anything. Do you know what I’m saying?’” he recalled.

Ludacris went on to say that the couple ended up laughing about the dispute. “That’s what maturity is about and that’s what growth is about,” he later added. “But we gave the people what they wanted for a certain period of time and that’s hip-hop. It starts with the competition and we are going to give that to you.”
