Love Is Blind: Every Clue That Nick & Danielle Would Divorce

Now that word is out on Danielle Ruhl and Nick Thompson’s divorce, Love Is Blind fans are noting all the signs that their marriage wouldn’t last. Danielle and Nick were the last surviving couple left after Iyanna McNeely and Jarrette Jones announced their divorce in a joint statement. The news of Danielle’s divorce filing came just days after Iyanna and Jarrette’s divorce announcement. The two back-to-back divorces shocked fans and had many questioning if the season 2 cast took part in the marriage experiment for the right reasons.

Nick and Danielle hit it off in the Love Is Blind pods and showed promise as a couple. But as soon as the newly matched pairs embarked on the group honeymoon trip, Danielle’s insecurities got the best of her. Instead of relishing in their engagement, Nick and Danielle fought throughout the trip. Danielle experienced a panic attack at the start of the honeymoon and started spewing her worries onto her new fiancé. Nick was visibly shaken but remained patient with Danielle throughout the process. When it came time to meet Danielle’s family, the Ruhls were quick to embrace Nick. However, his mother and sisters came off as cold toward Danielle. Now, after a year of marriage, Danielle and Nick are going their separate ways.

Considering all the cracks in their relationship were captured on Love Is Blind, there were many signs that Danielle and Nick’s marriage wouldn’t last. Danielle owned her behavior during the trip to Mexico. After the episode aired, she took to Instagram, acknowledging that she often lets her anxiety get the best of her and how she’s working on herself. Danielle wrote, at the time, that she is “learning to continue work on not letting my past experiences shape the way I view the world or others.” Nick left a comment at the time, applauding his wife for her “Strength.” Nonetheless, fans have remained skeptical about how much of Danielle’s projecting Nick was willing to put up with.

When news of Nick and Danielle’s divorce hit the press, Reddit user u/StillandStorm shared an article, and fans sounded off on why they weren’t surprised by the split. “They should’ve never gotten married,” one fan said. “They weren’t compatible at all. Their scenes stressed me out lol,” added someone else. During the Love Is Blind season 2 finale, when Danielle and Nick tied the knot, Danielle expressed her worries about the wedding and revealed that Nick told her to say “no” at the altar the night before. Viewers thought Nick might not go through with the wedding, but when they both said “I do,” they became one of two season 2 couples to get married.

Since Love Is Blind wrapped, Danielle and Nick shared how couples therapy helped them overcome the hurdles in their marriage. Last month, Danielle gushed about her hopes to start a family with Nick. However, she likely had no idea that she would be filing for divorce in the coming weeks. Danielle might’ve been hoping to look past her flaws and create a happy life together. But did Nick finally decide that enough was enough? Now with no Love Is Blind season 2 couples left, doubts about the marriage experiment are mounting. Viewers will be tuning into the After The Altar special to see what the last two couples revealed leading up to their divorces.
