Leena attended Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli, Maharashtra for her graduate studies in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (1986–1990). Leena started her career in 1992 as a management trainee at Unilever (Hindustan Unilever Limited). At Unilever, she was one of the few female workers who chose factory roles. In 1993, he was promoted to the position of Factory Personnel Manager of Lipton (India) Limited.
