Larry David is devastated after the death of his Curb your enthusiasm co-star and friend Richard Lewis. He shared a touching tribute to the late comedian. Lewis died after a heart attack at his home in Los Angeles.
According to David, he and Lewis had been together from the beginning. They were born just a few days apart in the same hospital. David feels a mix of emotions after learning of her death.
“Richard and I were born three days apart in the same hospital and for most of my life he has been like a brother to me,” David wrote in a statement via Variety. “He had that rare combination of being the funniest person and also the sweetest. But today he made me cry and I will never forgive him for that.”
Despite the coincidence of their births, Lewis and David did not meet for the first time until they were 12 years old at a sports camp. According to Today, Lewis and David didn’t like each other.
“I really disliked him. He was cocky, arrogant,’” Lewis said. “When we played baseball I tried to hit him with the ball: we were archrivals. I couldn’t wait for camp to end just to get away from Larry. I’m sure he felt the same way.”
However, they would end up being friends as adults. The two met again after they both decided to become comedians. David ended up giving Lewis one of his most iconic performances: himself. Lewis starred on the show. Curb your enthusiasm as a fictional version of himself.

David is not the only one mourning the comedian. Jamie Lee Curtis also remembered her Everything but love co-star. She shared a tribute to the comedian on Instagram.
“Richard’s last message to me was in hopes that he could convince ABC/Disney to release another set of episodes of the show,” Curtis wrote. “He’s also the reason I’m sober. He helped me. I will be forever grateful to him just for that act of grace. He found love in Joyce and that, of course, along with his sobriety, is what mattered most to him. I’m crying as I write this. Strange way to thank a sweet and funny man. Rest in laughter, Richard. My Marty, I love you, Hannah!
Likewise, HBO also wrote a tribute to the actor. “We are heartbroken to learn that Richard Lewis has passed away. “His comedic brilliance, wit and talent were unparalleled,” the company wrote. “Richard will always be a beloved member of the HBO and ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ families, our deepest condolences to his family, his friends and all the fans who could count on Richard to brighten his days with laughter.” .
