Kyle Capener Is Criticized By Netizens After He Made Racist Remark

Netizens are criticizing Big Brother Season 24 contestant Kyle Capener for making racist remarks and conspiring against POC opponents during the show’s final season. Although the footage was part of the live broadcast and was not included in the final edit of the day’s show, fans shared it on social media.

Kyle can be seen in the video noting the “diverse backgrounds” of his fellow contestants and comparing their alliance to Cookout, the show’s former black union. He also told his roommates that sticking together would give them a better chance of winning, which points to racial differences. People not only criticized Capener for his words but also CBS for not including them in the broadcast. The video sparked a flurry of tweets, many of which criticized the show’s contestant and producer, and included hashtags like #StopProtectingKyle.

What exactly did Kyle Capener say?

Capener was discussing survival methods with roommates Michael Bruner and Brittany Hoopes when the incident occurred. He tries to convince Hoopes to spare his colleague Alyssa Snider from impending deportation. During the discussion, the 29-year-old can be heard saying:

“If you could defend me, I wouldn’t use the veto, because the Remainers believe everything is fine and don’t think we’re on track of anything they’ve done.”

He added that the remaining six cross-cultural candidates may have a better chance of survival if the public votes for them. Kyle assumed they were working together and compared the team to last season’s all-black Big Brother alliance, Cookout, saying:

“I mean, it sounds pretty much like a Cookout with a really different background, the potential of six people with that history.” People say why they play this game. Please add a Middle Eastern presence on TV, Joseph. There has never been a Brazilian candidate or winner, Indy.

He added that, compared with diverse contestants, he and other white contestants had less of a chance of winning, and advised his “white” friends to stick together. He declared:

“Everybody has the right strong ‘why’.” When I think about our alliance, I think it’s amazing because it was born unnecessarily and our backs were against the wall and it brought us together.”

The meeting was never broadcast, prompting supporters to accuse CBS of protecting Capener and covering up his racist actions. Viewers also criticized the show’s producer for exposing Taylor Hale, who defended Jasmine because she didn’t want to push another black woman out.

“It’s horrible,” one Twitter user responded to Kyle Capener and CBS.

Annoying viewers took to social media to express their feelings about the event, accusing Capener of racism and accusing CBS of defending racist behaviour. Many have even suggested that the show’s producers are portraying Taylor as a “villain” to protect Capener and cover up his “racist statements”. They also said the show was of little help to Taylor when she was bullied early in the season.

Dear Commoners, Kyle has begun the white man’s war against the POC. And since it seems racist, Brittany & Michael decide to hit Terrance to save face. You’ve got it all! #BB24

Kyle has been advocating for his all-white union and racial prejudice since August 4, and not a single second of that has been featured on the show. @CBSBigBrother @TMZ #StopProtectKyle #bb24 pic.twitter.com/a8KAWmzIx4

Some even tried to make it clear that Turner’s hatred of Jasmine was not racist and unlike what Capener was doing. One also criticized CBS for airing Capener’s love life with his racist behavior. Recent events have made Capener a popular target for many viewers, which may have shortened his stay in the home.
