Kraft Heinz Sued After Lunchables Allegedly Found Full of Metal

Popular food distribution company Kraft Heinz has found itself in trouble. And the problems seem to be very serious.

Kraft is known for its popular Lunchables snack, a hit with parents of young children around the world. However, the popular item seems dangerous for consumers. According to TMZ, traces of metal have been found in the food. This can be dangerous for children and anyone else who consumes the product.

“In the documents, obtained by TMZ, Laura LaSpisa accuses Kraft of misleading consumers with false advertising about its pre-packaged meal kits,” TMZ wrote. “She claims they failed to mention that the kits contain harmful levels of lead, cadmium and phthalates, a group of chemicals typically used to make plastic more durable.”

Kraft faces class action lawsuit

The problems don’t just lie in product results for Kraft. They also face a class-action lawsuit. The plaintiff claims that the company convinced her that the product was healthy. And after discovering the information, she had to get rid of all the Lunchables she bought.

“Kraft Heinz is facing a class-action lawsuit, which claims that its Lunchables are basically a scrapyard for metals that end up in the mouths of children around the world. According to the lawsuit, a Consumer Reports study recently revealed some troubling findings…and Laura claims that until then, the company had convinced her that she was purchasing a safe and nutritious snack,” TMZ added.

“LaSpisa and others claim they had to throw all their Lunchables in the trash because they no longer felt safe giving them to their families.”

Company spokesperson denies claims

The accusations against the company are serious. And since children are the target audience for its product, the allegations also damage Kraft’s reputation.

A Kraft spokesperson says the company vehemently denies the claims.

“We are aware of the complaint and we totally disagree with the accusations. “Certain substances like lead are found in the environment and can be found at low levels in agricultural products,” the spokesperson told TMZ.

“Whether it’s on grocery store shelves, in the produce section or in your backyard. “Our products are safe for consumers and we will vigorously defend our brand.”
