As he resumes his royal duties, King Charles visits other cancer patients and talks to them about his battle with the disease.
The King attended the Macmillan Cancer Center at University College Hospital on Tuesday, April 30. His wife, Queen Camilla, accompanied him to visit patients and talk about the importance of early cancer detection.
Royal reporter, ITV’s Chris Ship, took to X (formerly Twitter) to report on conversations King Charles had with patients. He also shared a video of the King visiting the medical center.
“Many patients said afterward that they felt a personal connection with him because they understood what they had been through and what they are still going through.”

When a patient asked him how he was, the King allegedly said: “I’m fine, thank you very much, it’s not that bad.”
David Probert, chief executive of University College Hospital in London, shared that the King was “full of great energy” during his visit.
Buckingham Palace announced earlier this year that King Charles was diagnosed with cancer. Palace officials did not reveal what type of cancer or at what stage.
“His Majesty began a regular treatment program today, during which time doctors have advised him to postpone his public duties,” the statement read. “During this period, Her Majesty will continue to conduct state affairs and official procedures as usual.”

Although reports recently revealed that he was “very unwell” and officials were updating funeral plans, royal officials shared that the king was actually ready to resume his royal duties.
“Her Majesty’s treatment program will continue,” officials shared in a statement. “But doctors are quite satisfied with the progress made so far.”
Officials also said King Charles can now resume a number of public duties. “Upcoming engagements will be adapted where necessary to minimize any risk to Her Majesty’s continued recovery from him.”
Officials noted that the King was greatly encouraged to resume his duties. “[He’s] “I am very grateful to his medical team for their continued care and expertise.”
Meanwhile, King Charles’ nephew Peter Phillips recently spoke about the king’s frustration with his limitations during his cancer treatment.
“The overriding message would be that he’s obviously very interested in getting back to some form of normality,” Phillips said. “And you’re probably frustrated that the recovery is taking a little longer than you’d probably like.”
Philip also describes his uncle as very pragmatic. “He understands that there’s a period of time where he really needs to focus on himself.”
