Kiki Layne recently revealed that most of the scenes in her Don’t Worry Darling and co-star Ariel Stachel were cut. Kiki took to Instagram to address the omission as the film will be released in US theaters on September 23, 2022. Kiki Layne, known for her roles in Beale Street Can Talk, Native Son and The Old Guard, said on Instagram that her sequence from Don’t Worry Dear has been deleted. She mentioned Ariel Stachel, the Tony Award winner best known for her performance in The Band’s Visit.

“The best part about #DontWorryDarling is meeting @arielstachel.” We’ve been edited in most of the movies, but we’re doing really well in real life.”
Stachel responded in the comments section of the post, saying:
“Honey. You’re the queen, and your gift shines… I was thirsty then, and I still am.”

Margaret and Teda, a couple from the desert village of Victory in the 1950s, who are not only eye-catching, are portrayed by Kiki Layne and Ariel Stachel. Margaret, played by Layne, is said to be the trigger for Florence Pugh’s main character Alice in the film. Kiki Layne has just wrapped production of Netflix’s The Old Guard 2 starring Charlize Theron and Chiwetel Ejiofor, for those unfamiliar with the actor’s previous work. She later also appeared in films such as Native Son and Coming 2 America, as well as voicing Chip’n Dale: Rescue Rangers.
On the other hand, Ariel Stachel stars in Netflix’s Zola, Jessica Jones and the upcoming Law & Order: Hate Crimes. While Kiki Layne stated that her moments with Stachel were removed from the film, the two shared some behind-the-scenes photos with fans after the movie premiered. Ariel shared a behind-the-scenes photo with Kiki Layne on his Instagram profile. He wrote in praise of the actor:
“My favorite aspect of my Don’t Worry Darling experience.” This woman did an amazing job and I was thirsty as soon as I met her.”
He also took to Instagram to express his gratitude to Kiki Layne. Here is an excerpt from the note:
“There are some really terrible things going on in the world right now, but I feel incredibly fortunate to live in a country where women – women of color and black women – continue to break boundaries and fulfill all their aspirations.” I consider myself so lucky to live in a time when this amazing woman can inspire me, inspire me, see me, encourage me, etc. [sic]”
Although the film sparked controversy, including Olivia Wilde’s clashes with Shia LaBeouf and Florence Pugh, the film was ultimately released in US theaters.
