Khayali Saharan is an Indian comedian and politician, who is a member of the Aam Aadmi Party. He came into limelight after participating in the reality stand-up comedy series The Great Indian Laughter Challenge Season 2 aired on Star One.

Khayali Saharan was born on Sunday, 1 January 1978 (age 45 years; as in 2023) in 18 SPD Baropal village of Hanumangarh district, Rajasthan. Their zodiac sign is Capricorn. He studied till his 5th class in a school in his village. After this, he took admission in a school in a nearby village to study in class 10th. When he was in 10th class, he failed three times and decided to leave his studies. After this he went to Sri Ganganagar in search of work. Saharan was good at acting, singing, mimicry and dancing since childhood.

livelihood
While living in Sri Ganganagar, Khayali worked as a guard in a swimming pool for about 5-6 months. Later, he started working at JCT Mills in Sri Ganganagar. While working in a textile mill, Khayali met with an accident and his right hand was seriously injured. He was hospitalized for about 13 months, where he underwent several surgeries. After getting his hand treated, Khayali again joined the textile mill and worked there for about 5 years. Meanwhile, he also worked part-time at Ganesh Cinema in Sri Ganganagar, selling tickets outside the cinema. Soon, he associated himself with a theater group and performed his first play ‘Poster’. Working with the group, Saharan later started doing drama road shows and stage shows in various cities like Jaipur and Bikaner. Once, when he was performing in a play in Jaipur, he got the opportunity to attend an acting workshop in Chandigarh. He then decided to relocate to Chandigarh, where he started anchoring various stage shows.
His comedy skills attracted various organizers and he anchored for the stage shows of various famous singers like Gurdas Maan, Jazzy B, Hans Raj Hans, Mika Singh and Daler Mehndi. Khayali used to earn Rs. 2000 to Rs. Rs 2500 for one show. He worked as an anchor for about 5 years, and in December 2005 appeared for the audition of the reality TV stand-up comedy show The Great Indian Challenge Season 2 (aired on Star One) and was selected. He was the only contestant from North India to be selected in the show. While Rauf Lala became the winner of the show, Khayali Saharan emerged as the second runner-up. During the show, Khayali was offered a comic role in the Bollywood film ‘Journey Bombay to Goa: Laughter Unlimited’ (2007). He then played comic roles in several Bollywood films such as Singh Is Kinng (2008), Meri Padosan (2009), Muskurake Dekh Zara (2010), Bhaavyaan Ko Samjho (2010), and Marudhar Mharo Ghar (2014).
He has also worked in various Punjabi films such as Mukhtiyar Chaddha (2015), JATT vs IELTS (2018), Alt Palt (2020), and Kulche Chole (2022). He has also participated in many other comedy shows like Comedy Circus (aired on Sony channel), Mazaak Mazaak Mein (aired on Life OK), Mad in India (aired on Star Plus), and Sab TV Jokes.
He also appeared as a guest star on the reality TV comedy show The Kapil Sharma Show (2018; aired on Sony Entertainment Television).
He was also featured in a TV advertisement for Jio 11.
On August 8, 2020, Khayali created a YouTube channel named Khayali Comedy on which he posts his comedy videos. The channel has over 389k subscribers. He is very popular for playing the role of Roop Nath in his videos.
In April 2022, Khayali Saharan entered politics by joining Aam Aadmi Party. Later he was made divisional in-charge of AAP Bikaner.
philanthropy
Apart from being a comedian and politician, Khayali Saharan is also an active philanthropist. In 2011, Saharan owned about 20 bighas of land and Rs. To prepare boys academically, physically and mentally for entry into the National Defense Academy, he established Oasis Sainik School at a cost of Rs 1.25 crore in his village 18 SPD Baropal, Hanumangarh, Rajasthan. He is one of the trustees of the school. Khayali often organizes free camps for physically challenged persons.
Controversy
Rape case registered
On 14 March 2023, a 25-year-old woman filed a complaint against Khayali Saharan at the Mansarovar police station in Jaipur, accusing him of raping her in a hotel room in Jaipur’s Mansarovar area on the pretext of helping her get a job. . Following the complaint, a case was registered against Khayali under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (punishment for sexual harassment). Apparently, this incident happened on March 13, 2023. According to the police, Khayali had booked two rooms in a hotel, one for herself and the other for two women, who had come in contact with Khayali a month ago seeking help for a job. In the evening Khayali called the women to his room and served them beer. When they refused, he forcibly asked the women to drink beer and started drinking it himself. Later, when one of the women left the room, he allegedly raped other women in an inebriated state.
