Kesha Once Talked About ‘Strange’ Collaboration With Diddy for ‘Tik Tok’
During a 2009 interview with MTV News, Kesha opened up about the “strange” collaboration she had with Diddy during Tik Tok.
“Diddy ended up in Tik Tok because one morning I woke up surrounded by a group of hot girls and I was like, ‘I’m like Diddy, man,'” she recalled. “So I wrote the first line of Tik Tok, which is ‘Wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy.'”
At the time, she was working with her former producer, Dr. Luke, who received an interesting phone call from Diddy hours after she came up with the song’s first line.
“As fate would have it, I swear, about four hours later, Diddy called Luke for the first time to tell him we should do a song together sometime.”
Although he was quite busy at the time, Diddy was able to come and contribute to the song. Throughout the song, he is heard rapping: “Hey, what’s up, girl?” and “Let’s go.”
“He agreed to come that day,” Kesha continued. “It was very strange, but as fate would have it, it happened over the course of a few hours. “We were all together and I felt very intimidated…because he was the nicest guy.”
Tik Tok It’s on their debut album, Animal, which was released in January 2010.
