Many family members and friends of Ke’Ajie Williams were shocked to learn of her death. The former Troy University basketball player died on December 13 at the age of 21. Ke’Ajia Williams, a junior at St. Thomas averaged 11.2 points, 1.3 assists and 7.7 rebounds last season.
After learning of her death, Troy University issued a statement postponing the Sun Belt Conference opener against Georgia State for Sunday at Trojan Arena. Williams’ family did not reveal the cause of her death, although many believed the child had mental health issues. The Williams family has scheduled a visitation for Ke’Ajia on Friday, Dec. 29, at Peach Mortuary. The funeral will be held a day later at the People’s Baptist Church.

The death of Ke’Aji Williams stunned the entire basketball community. Ke’Ajia, a lively little girl, died suddenly on December 13. She was the daughter of Tamia Green and Frederick Williams, with two sisters and one brother. Her mother, Tamia Green, posted multiple messages on Facebook to express her grief over her daughter’s death.
Tamia released a photo album of Ke’Ajie five days after her death. She showed photos of Ke’Ajia as a young man, as well as photos of him playing for Troy University. The next day, she posted videos of Ke’Ajie performing for her team. She wrote “My 21” with the photo. These memories, as well as the love and support I receive, keep me calm. “Your number 1 fan.” Another commemorative post included Ke’Ajia graduating from high school as well as photos of her daughter playing for the Bucs and Troy. She also uploaded a photo of Ke’Ajia enjoying herself with the spectators on the basketball floor. Cause of death of Ke’Ajie Williams
The Williams family has not said what caused young Ke’Ajia’s death. However, other websites claimed that Ke’Ajia may have been suffering from mental issues. Ke’Ajia was active on TikTok and posted a video the day before her death. Ke’Ajia is shown in the video singing the song while emoting. Ke’Aji’s TikTok video titled “Taking your man hoodies and actually living in his body now” hinted at her relationship status.
Ke’Aji’s TikTok videos made it seem like the athlete was having a good time, but the truth may have been quite different. Her death is another example of why we shouldn’t judge people based on their social media presence. Things could be quite different in reality.
Troy University mourns Ke’Aji
Since Ke’Aji’s death on December 13, various family and friends have taken to social media to express their grief for the outstanding athlete. ES Jones, a close friend of the Williams family, posted a video of several of Ke’Aji’s friends carrying pink and white balloons and lighting candles in front of her portrait.
They let the balloons rise high shouting “Big 21”, Ke’Aji’s jersey number. Troy University released a statement Dec. 27. They sent their thoughts and prayers to Ke’Ajia and her family, stating, “You are forever a Trojan and we will always miss you.”
