Kay Ellen Ivey (born October 15, 1944) is an American politician who served as the 54th Governor of Alabama as of 2017. She was the 38th State Treasurer of Alabama from 2003 to 2011 and the 30th Lieutenant Governor of Alabama from 2011 to 2017. She is a Republican. After the departure of her predecessor, Robert J. Bentley, she became the second female governor and the first Republican female governor. In the 2018 race for governor, she defeated challenger Walt Maddox by a significant margin.

Biography of Kay Ivey
Kay Ivey was born in Camden, Alabama on October 15, 1944 to Boadman Nettles Ivey and Barbara Elizabeth (Nettles) Ivey to mother. Her father was a World War II Army major who later worked with the Gees Bend community under the federal Farmers Home Administration initiative.

She later served as reading clerk in the Alabama House of Representatives from 1980 to 1982 and as assistant director of the Alabama Development Office from 1982 to 1985.
