Controversy

Kavita Jain’s verbal feud with Geeta Bhukkal

During a meeting for general discussion on the budget estimates for the year 2017-18, Kavita Jain had a breakdown in the ongoing assembly, over a personal comment passed by the Congress leader, Geeta Bhukkal. Geeta Bhukkal alleged that the BJP government was not doing anything to celebrate International Women’s Day, despite being informed at the beginning of the session, about a State level programme that would be held at Sonipat on March 15, where women from different fields were to be honoured. The celebration was postponed to March 15 from March 8, due to the overlapping of International Women’s Day with the Assembly Session. According to Geeta Bhukkal, doing so suppressed the significance of the day. During the heated argument, Geeta Bhukkal said,

I condemn the decision of the state government not to celebrate International Women’s Day. The minister (Jain) is giving a wrong statement in the House. She does not look into her files, it is her husband (BJP leader) Rajiv Jain who does that.”
